Doctoral Seminar Series
The Energy Science Center (ESC) co‑hosts the Doctoral Seminar Series “Showcasing Master and Doctoral Research in Modelling for Climate and Energy”, a 2-ECTS seminar series for master and doctoral students. Offered every second year since 2012 (formerly “Frontiers in Energy Research”), the course provides a platform for presenting research, fostering exchange across departments, and strengthening presentation and feedback skills.
The class allows students to present their work-in-progress to colleagues, advisers and the scientific community as well as to give and receive constructive feedback and to foster new collaborations. It aims to disseminate knowledge of ETH Zurich energy and climate modelling research activities throughout the research community.
Each week, two students give a ~20-minute presentation of their research (motivation, research gap, methods and findings) followed by a discussion with the audience. Attendees provide constructive written comments on each lecture, which are passed (anonymised) to the presenter as useful feedback. Students need to attend and provide feedback at least 80% of the events.
