Entrepreneurship
The ESC advances knowledge and technology transfer by supporting entrepreneurship in the energy field. Specifically, the ESC provides attractive programmes and platforms for ETH members to support ETH spin-offs and start-ups.
In close collaboration with ETH Entrepreneurship, the ESC initiated the Energy Launchpad to further strengthen entrepreneurship in the energy field. This pan-European startup programme aims to nurture the development of venture-capital-fundable startups that can make a significant impact on both European and global markets by transforming cutting-edge energy research and innovations into viable businesses.
Spearheaded by the ESC, external page UnternehmerTUM, external page EnBW, external page VERBUND Ventures, external page TU Wien, external page TU Munich and external page Energie 360°, the programme aims to leverage the competencies and infrastructure of leading European research, startup hubs, and corporations to fast-track the development of sustainable and responsible energy systems and technologies. The programme is tailored towards teams of entrepreneurial students, researchers, and innovators, and is designed to ensure that participants are well-equipped to address societal and regulatory challenges surrounding their innovations.
The ESC runs the Energy Now! impact accelerator, which challenges student teams to develop creative, impactful solutions to the urgent challenges of the energy transition.Industry partners provide feedback and data throughout the challenge. Energy Now! is a unique programme that bridges the gap between academia, private, and public actors, and offers students a low-barrier opportunity to explore entrepreneurship, thereby providing the ground for new spin-offs and start-ups in the energy field.
