Underground Energy Solutions

The energy supply system in Switzerland and worldwide is undergoing a fundamental change. Applications such as e-mobility, data processing or urban cooling solutions require significant amounts of electricity and a stable supply. Pressure to decarbonise the energy system leads to a strong political support of sustainable and clean forms of energy supply.

In this external page SCAUT event co-hosted by the Energy Science Center (ESC) at ETH Zurich, we would like to explore the potential the underground space can offer in terms of energy production, storage and transportation. Organised as a round table with experts and stakeholders both from academia and the industry, we will share experiences and have an open discussion on key-factors, required technologies and competences. The goal is to generate innovative approaches and ideas that can be further analysed and to outline next steps.
