Successful roundtable on decarbonising the energy sector
How can concepts and strategies for zero carbon cities and communities, circular economy, and urban planning transform today's cities into carbon-free cities?
On 3 December 2019, high profile representatives from universities, government agencies, and practitioners from Singapore, China, Switzerland and the United States discussed challenges of future district cooling systems in the tropics, regulatory frameworks, and economic incentives.
Among many others, ESC member Prof. Arno Schlüter and ESC director Dr. Christian Schaffner presented current research and work from ETH Zurich such as the interdisciplinary research project "Renewable Management and Real-Time Control Platform" (ReMaP). Furthermore, both ETH researchers took part in a roundtable discussion, along with Prof. Stephen Cairns, program director of the Future Cities Laboratory.
The roundtable was the third in a row and was co-organised by the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL), external page Empa (Prof. Matthias Sulzer) and the Energy Science Center.
