On the recommendation of ETH President Joël Mesot, the ETH Board appointed several new ETH professors during its meeting on 10 and 11 July 2019, among them Professor Florian Dörfler, who is currently Tenure Track Assistant Professor at ETH Zurich. He has been appointed as Associate Professor of Complex Systems Control.

MEST-Studierende forschen an induktiver Stromtankstelle

Im Rahmen des Masterstudiengangs in Energy Science and Technology haben Studierende einen Prototypen entwickelt, der aufzeigt, wie Elektroautos in Zukunft induktiv geladen werden könnten. Die Fallstudie, die während der "Case Studies" über zwei Semester hinweg stattfand, entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit lab360, dem Innovationslabor von Energie 360°.

Carbon-neutral fuel made from sunlight and air
News
Researchers from ETH Zurich have developed a novel technology that produces liquid hydrocarbon fuels exclusively from sunlight and air. For the first time worldwide they demonstrate the entire thermochemical process chain under real field conditions. The new solar mini-refinery is located on the roof of ETH’s Machine Laboratory building in Zurich.

Zu den befürchteten Strom-Engpässen im Winter gibt Dr. Turhan Demiray von der Forschungsstelle Energienetze (FEN) Entwarnung: So lange die Importe aus Frankreich und Deutschland möglich seien, gebe es bis 2030 in der Schweiz genug Strom. Er hat zusammen mit Kollegen der Uni Basel die künftige Stromproduktion in Deutschland, Frankreich und der Schweiz im Auftrag des Bundesamtes für Energie berechnet.
